More than a thousand firms allows you to set up a Direct Stock-Purchase (DSP), Direct Purchase Programs (DPP), or Dividend Reinvestment Programs (DRIP). These are investment service that allows individuals to purchase stock directly from a company or through a transfer agent. Not all companies offer DPPs and the plans often have restrictions on when an individual can purchase shares.
