What appears to be the most interesting US campaign for a long time. I am quite shocked or amazed by Sarah Palins comments on God amongst other things. Of course in America or any where religion still plays a big part in government . For the leader of the developed western country to make a statement that she believes the world was created only 4000 years ago borders on the absurd. I always thought most intelligent people realised that Genesis the first chapter in the bible is only mythology and not meant for literally translation. At the other end of the scale you have the events that happened in Israel two thousands years ago which are impossible to deny. Governments should work harder at integrating science and religion to a level that all people can relate to. At that point we could start to a have a debate.

Friday's face off between Barack Obama and John McCain—should it go forward—will be no exception. The debates, we're told, attract such large audiences because they're the last best chance for voters to soberly size up two candidates, side by side, and come to a decision.
